I picked-up 4 UNC Ike's today for $17. They are a '74P, 74D, 77D and a 78D. This was an impulse buy and It's below Red Book. This wasn't a major purchase, but it was an impulse buy... Was this a good 'retail' deal.
?

Note to self....Stop visiting the CCF forum. All of you Ike fans got me interested in Ike's and now I'm 'forced' to start a type set of them.

They look very nice.

According to NumisMedia, this is a very good deal for anything MS63 and above.

Not a bad deal by any means but not the greatest deal the worlds ever seen. It was a good deal if they arent covered in bag marks. Nice IKEs are a pain to find, just wait until you get to the 72-P finding a clean one for a decent price is like hunting a unicorn in my experience

You can always sell them to Jbuck for twice what you paid for them. He's a sucker for Ike's lol.

@BamaBlue, they look pretty sharp! To be honest, the price wasn't bad.

Thanks guys... I don't impulse buy very well and I was fully prepared to square the blame on you "Ikeies". Some days you're the bug; some days you're the windshield. It's about time I got to be the windshield!

I think you did alright. Like Jbuck, I do love me some Ike's. They were the large dollars of my youth and bring back fond and I guess you could say they were the first coin I collected since I would get a BU Ike every year for Christmas.

How would you characterize this one... the asking price is $8. I realize the pictures aren't great. The obverse is similar.

If we are claiming bridges for I claim the Golden Gate. And the STL Arch. I believe it is technically a bridge. :-) Available for some Franklin Proofs.

Bama assuming most of that on the coin is lint its not bad. I do see a couple marks on the face that would bother me as I generally try and find ones with a clean face being front and center or the marks hidden in the hair more.

You could do a lot worse than that though. If you like it go for it, theres not the luxury of being able to cut that year out of mint sets

That '72 is cleaned.

I would never pay over face for any CuNi Ike besides a '73, '72 T2, or '76 T1... or a real nice one. Later dates ('74 or later) in high grade like that... Kind of a dime a dozen. I've got a lot of MS 63 or better Ikes... over $2,000 worth now. All acquired for face. The occasional rare bag with dozens of coins that look like this;

I really don't mean to burst your bubble, I'm just surprised at that price. I could have $10k easy on my hands in Ikes here if people are really willing to pay those prices.
