some of the smartest criminals are young. they're not specifically saying you'll rob them but at least half a dozen members live between 1-2 hours from me, including one who lives in the same city as me, my collection is very hard to value as my grandpa passed down some very low mintage scarce coins that 'trends' can't put a price on
we are not being rude but stick to questions like "whats your most prized coin" or similar, when it has to do with how much or really "money" it gets personal. we have some of the best collectors in the world holding some of the rarest coins in the world so we like to keep it on the down low

I agree, because of obvious security concerns, I would think it would not be a good idea to post this. I am sure you have some that have collections that are not worth much where others have collections worth a lot.

Theoretically, probably somewhere between $500 and $1000; didn't calculate it any more precisely. In practice, I'm not currently planning to sell any of my coins; but if I did an eBay-style auction I would've probably got even less than $500, and if I had to put prices on them myself I would've likely ended up with more than $1000 (in prices at least - which is not to say that anyone else would be going to buy them). (And then there's a few high-grade [XF+, some AU] decent-sized old silvers that would've probably added another hundred bucks or so if they hadn't been so randomly misplaced...)

Politely suggest that the OP now realizes that questions such as this one are not welcome ... nor will they receive much in terms of substantive reply.
My collection is worth much less in $$ than the pleasure I derived from collecting each and every coin.

If you factor in the time I've spent accumulating what I have, I'm a millionaire !! Actual numismatic value, not so much...

I expect that marcusm16a4 didn't realize the implications of what he was asking. It's much like asking someone how much money they have in the bank. One just doesn't ask such things. It's personal.
Having said that, and having given some thought to the topic, I have come to a rather odd realization:
My coin collection is not about the money.

The value of my collection is derived from the fun and cameraderie here in the CCF, and in the numismatic knowledge base I have acquired. How do you put a price on that?

I don't know the exact value of my collection, all I know is it's more than face value. Way more, than face value. But I won't know the value because my collection keeps growing and will never stop.

Actually its Priceless to Me...I worked hard to collect what I have and paid hard earned $ for it. Can't put a price on something that gives one so much pleasure in putting the collection together.
