My Mom and Dad got me this set when I graduated 9th grade 24 years ago. Strange to most, I know. I went to a rural school that only went to the 9th grade. Anyway, I've never been much of a Morgan man, but this set has always been a cherished item of mine and I like looking at it. I hope the pic of the CC can give enough detail to decipher whether or not I should submit. They have always been called MS 60. I would consider slabbing them if I thought there was a decent shot at a 63. The rest of the coins look close to the same. I will post them if anyone wants to see them.

Holy cow. Amazing. The CC looks to make 63 rather easily, and might even be PL. We'll call it a $400 coin (at least) in a PCGS slab. Yes, yer darn right I want to see the other ones.

There are some significant added-value varieties amongst 1878's. I can't quite tell from your obverse image, so can you let me know if the 4th star to the right of the date is whole? If it's broken, it'll be the point which most closely aims back at the date, and you won't miss it.

With the other examples, if you have the ability to do closeups I'd like to see the bottom half of each reverse. I'm most interested in the area from the bottom of the wings (where they join the body is important) to below the DO in DOLLAR. You could be sitting on some serious money here.

SsuperDdave, the star is whole. I'm not sure the bag marks are showing in the pics as they do in hand. Nice to see someone else appreciate them as I do. I will try to get pics of some of the others.

As a little incentive: There are 8TF varieties whose value would go into 5 figures in Mint State.

Well, in that case, here are pics of the area you described of the 8TF. I hope the quality is good enough.

JPBone.. That's an awesome 78 CC. I agree with SsuperDdave, easily a 63. Just a gorgeous coin. Can't wait for Dave to chime in on the additional pictures!

The 8TF image is not_quite large enough to provide clear confirmation - the "devil in the details" is those little partial feathers right where the wings meet the body. I can see them well-enough to nail it down to a few possibilities, but nothing definitive. I *think* it's the reverse for VAMs 12, 16 and 17, which are relatively common.

The 7/8TF looks to be either VAM-36 or 37 (they share the same reverse), neither of which are particularly valuable in Mint State.

I agree with MS-63, and may even go 64.

With a shot at PL! Nice Coin!

I'll say it grades MS-63 PL. That and the rest in the set are all very nice!

I agree with all that has been posted so far. The 78-CC could go MS63-PL and Ddaves assessments of the 8TF reverse being the A1f and the 7/8TF reverse being the B/Ag. Now what are the 7TF and 78-S?

Keep in mind, jpbone, nothing I've said so far should be construed to read, "these coins aren't worth slabbing." Everything I've seen here are TPG-worthy coins. Judging from the looks of things, I doubt you'll ever do that - to your credit - but they're worth it if you ever choose.

I would like to see closer shots of both obverse and reverses of each coin. The 1878-S could be a huge profit margin coin if it's a B1 reverse, long arrow nock, only 1 or 2 MS examples exist if they really do at all, I've seen a beat up MS61 B1 reverse but it wasn't pretty.
