Sorry for the tilt on the Reverse. If I turned it straight, then we would lose a fair piece of it ....with Picasa.

I can see a contact on the T..S.. and 0 in the date and a small touch behind the ear. I don't really see any other contacts here on the Obv or Rev.

This little 5 cent coin is now blown up to the size of a small plate here, so all could be easily seen.

How do you think today's TGP's would call it?..and how do you call it? All comments welcome...

Nice strike on the obverse for that year coin...yeah.. I would agree that it may hit MS64 but, with the toning, if you sent it to ICCS they would call it MS62/3

Strike is pretty good for an Eddy and very few marks. 64 IMO. Maybe only 63.

I see no reason why this would not go higher than any grade mentioned thus far.

Beautiful Coin! I see no marks in the fields at all and I love the toning, I would say MS65 all day...

It was graded MS 63 by ICCS ..way back when...I find the grade a touch low but it was done in a time when "conservative" was the grading norm for ICCS..

I also find the strike good for that Edward series. So many nice ones have a smooth beard and without any detail. So hard to find great detail in the beard in the smaller 5 cent series. Thanks to all........

On previous threads here it has been discussed how the obverse is considered to have more weight when it comes to grading. I also have always agree with this assumption.
Here is a perfect example of a split grade coin where the reverse's grade is holding it's grade down. IMO the obverse is MS65, but the reverse is MS63. Considering the size of the coin and the size of the contact marks on the reverse, I can see why ICCS gave it the grade. If it was true that grading is solely based on the obverse this coin would be a MS65. This coin shows us that both sides are considered when it comes to grading. Still a lovely coin DEVLEC and thanks for sharing.
