This penny Looks like it has something going on with the 986 in the date 1986 and possibly with the mint mark as well. Lincoln's tuxedo looks a little undefined near the date too. If any one has any idea what happened to this coin please share.
Rest in Peace

I'm not sure but perhaps it is a plating problem. Either that or Machine Doubling...

Thank you for your response buddy.
I found this website.
http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/...Doubling.htm
It is by a gentleman named Ken Potter. I looked long and well at every doubling listed there. I can't seem to put my finger on it.
I also found this website with the double die variety I may have. please look and if you could leave a message on what you think about the coin that would be great. I thank you in advance for your time.
Here is the link: http://www.doubleddie.com/828970.html
You will have to cut and paste the links in your adress bar.
Thank you.

Thank you John1 for your input. I think you may be right about the worn die.

Die Deterioration on devices facing the rim on the date. Also die abrasion to cover an older clash/clashes. Just common stuff. Sorry

I checked the photos on Wexler's site and I don't think your matches.

I DO see what you're seeing on that coin but as others posted, it is just the result of an old worn die.

You might want to keep it as a reference. I keep all the little oddities I find (and I will continue to do so until I fill the jelly jar).

I keep searching and hoping....

On the left side of the screen. See where it says "donate" after the coins sub-divisions.
