I'm not an expert, but it doesn't look real to me. The lettering looks wrong and details of Liberty's face are off.

There were only about 20 of these made, so if it were real it would be worth millions of dollars. It's probably worth waiting for a member with more experience to confirm or deny it.

Definitely a fake for so many reasons. Check your pictures against those on PCGS CoinFacts: http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/Hierar...+(1798-1804)

You can do a google image search yourself and see that the letters are all wrong, as well as the stars. The bad counterfeits often have oddly shaped, unsymmetrical, bulky letters and just looks like a child drew it. The proportion on some parts is all wrong. There is an odd mix of fine details and worn details. And something about the texture/ color makes it look likes its just some common metal that will be picked up with a magnet.
And if there were only 20 made like cipster said then that should be a huge red flag that you have one in that good condition

To concur with the others, this is indeed a fake and a rather well-known one, too.

Once again, my own specimen example is sitting in my "uncataloged" binder and isn't up on The Black Cabinet for viewing. I really need to get to work on that...

Besides the fact that the 1804 Dollar is one of the most valuable coins out there the obverse stars, font of lettering, and spacing in relation to the rim are dead giveaways that it is fake regardless of the date.

I agree also, before I even scrolled down to see the whole Obverse I could see it was a fake. These coins are very rare but that doesn't mean you don't have one just because they are rare because there are real ones out there but this just isn't the case with this coin

The back just gives it away. Once I saw the face, I knew it wasn't going to turn out right.

As it was downloading, it paused on just the rim and stars and I said to myself, without a doubt. Fake. 90% + of the time, if you have to ask, it probably is fake. Sometimes your brain can't put into words why it looks fake. You just feel it. In this case, it was more that a feeling. Nothing about this fake looks right IMO. Hope you didn't pay more than $1 for it.
