Had just a wonderful day yesterday. I had planned on taking my dad on a trip to a coin show for fathers day (albeit a day early) and my son said he wanted to come along.. So the three of us, 3 generations of the clan headed out to make it to the show when it opened at 9:00 a.m.

On the way there I surprised my dad with a coin he's wanted for a long time.. A Twenty Cent Piece. It's an 1875-S and he was very excited when he opened the package to find it.

Now his goal had changed to finding a 2 cent piece to add to his collection once were were at the show.

For myself I was on the hunt to fill some holes in my Morgan dollar collection. My son, just wanted to hang out with his dad and grandfather.

The day was just one of the best days I've ever had with my father and having my son there was the icing on the cake. I picked up 4 Morgans while there, 1879-O, 1897-S, 1902-P and a 1904-P. My dad found his 2 Cent piece, an 1865 in EF-40 condition. Real nice coin.

After spending about 2 1/2 hours admiring the coins at the show we headed out to pick up some lunch. While we waited for our food to arrive, we admired our purchases and I said I was so pleased to pick up 4 Morgans! To my surprise, my own son said no dad, not 4 but 5 and he pulled out a slabbed 1892-O Morgan in AU-50 condition. I was just floored! I had no Morgan in from this year and this one was a real beauty. To me it will always bring back the memories of the day I got to spend with my Dad and my son.

That was the best gift I could ever get.

The family that shares coins together is always nice to read about.
And on Father's Day weekend? WONDERFUL!

Your son will remember the time spent
with you and your father. For years to come.

Yes he is, quite a surprise indeed. Made for a wonderful day for all three of us. Called my dad today and he expressed the same feelings about it. Just a great day spent together. Happy Fathers day to all dads out there!

Congradulations on finding a great way to spend Father's Day. Could have been a lot better if that show was as large as it was supposed to be. However, in the same area the preceeding Sunday was the Countryside show and then that was followed by the Itasca show the next Sunday. Many dealers said a bit to much so didn't bother. Otherwise would have been a lot larger show. Still you did OK.

Agreed on the size of the show. A bit smaller than it was back in February. Still had a great time with my dad and my son. Couldn't beat the day at all. Besides my son surprising me with the 92-O Morgan, just seeing my Dad's face light up when we walked in made the day quite special. He's 80, been collecting since he was young and believe it or not, had never been to a coin show. After Saturday, me thinks we'll be attending more of them now. Certainly a day that I won't forget to be sure.

If your in the area remember there are coin shows almost every Sunday all year long. The Countryside show is on the second Suday of every Month all year long and is a two day show in December. Sometimes from 80 to 100 dealers. Itasca show on the third Sunday of every Month. Also a show on the first and forth Sunday of every Month but can't remember the name of the places.

What a fantastic father's day for you!! I'm planning on taking my wife, our youngest son (9 years old) and his god parents, up to the Whitman Baltimore coin show this coming Saturday. Hoping to have a fun day with family, friends, and coins, as well. Again, congratulations on your wonderful day!!

Thanks Carl! Actually I'm from Indiana but Tinley Park is just due west of me. About a 35 minute ride. Don't know Countryside or Itasca but will definitely look them up!

Thanks Capsnhawks and everyone. I'd love to see what you pick up at the Baltimore show! We had such a good time that I think we'll be doing it more often now... Let us know how your trip works out.
