Taking some close-ups of the 'S' makes me feel like this is a fake, or rather an S added to a regular 1909 VDB. Can anyone confirm?

Per your original link, sure does look suspicious. It's just not right.

I don't like it. Should be bought certified.

Kind of a tough phot to judge. The severe angle distorts my perspective.
And of course, welcome.

It's pretty beat up, hard to see clearly. Here's a view straight on:

That honestly could be anything.

I see nothing that screams "counterfeit" right off the bat, though I will say it is obviously really worn.

Another weird thing I noticed is the "O" in GOD is broken:

There are four known obverse dies that were used to strike these. There are four mint mark positions, which are slightly different from one another, on authentic examples. Here is a link to PCGS's website regarding this: http://www.pcgs.com/News/Counterfei...incoln-Cents Compare your coin to the pics on the PCGS website. Could you post a pic of the reverse? Specifically the VDB.

Again, it's pretty beat up. Seems to line up correctly though:

I still think it's just reeeeally worn but probably legitimate. If you want, take it to a coin dealer and ask them to give it a good once-over for their opinion.

I've looked at this thread several times and I'm just not sure what to think of it. In my opinion, it's worth enough if authentic to justify sending it to a top TPG for authentication.

Okay, so it's tough to say as damaged as this coin is, but I think it's not legit. (Just my opinion.) I took the photos from PCGS site that cwb8539 linked, and I overlaid to two dies that looked closest to your coin. First, your coin with the mint-markish blob outlined in red: Next, die position #1 overlaid with the mint mark outlined in blue: Next, die position #2 overlaid with the mint mark outlined in green: Finally, all three superimposed at the same time: I think they are close, so the damage or my poor photoshop skills may allow this to be a real coin. The mint mark seems less worn than the date. I wonder if that's common or a tell.
