This currently rest in a MS64 PCGS OGH. I have had it for a bit over a year and refound it after moving. I think it is a 65 and probably fbl. I was wondering if you guys agree and if you think it could make FBL at NGC. I can submit to NGC or ANACS, but I would have to find a dealer if I wanted to submit to PCGS. The other option would be possible going for the Green Bean through CAC. Which route would add more value? Numismedia has MS65 at $87.50 and MS65 FBL at $150. ebay has them all over the place for those grades, but is a bit less than Numismedia on average. I only have 37.50 in the coin so regarding it getting the MS65FBL with time would lead to a okay return. I just don't know if it is there or not, especially if I went with NGC which has stricture standards. Just a close up on the lines, not actually color. I don't know how to use the new color tools on the image optimizer. OBVERSE REVERSE 1 REVERSE 2 Thanks for all the help.

Its full bell line to me. Now what ever grading service you use is up to you. Whatever grade you get you would have to consider is it good enough to send to CAC for the bean. Pure and simple..the proof will be in the pudding....he he But I will say the bean seems to command a higher price from what I've seen thus far.

If it didn't get FBL from PCGS first time you may try again. It is generally harder to attain FBL at ANACS and NGC. The requirements are different at each service and PCGS is the most lenient. nlp

I don't think it will upgrade. Even if it did, your added value is eaten up by the submission cost. It's a pleasing MS-64. The FBL thing- you really need the coin in hand. Your coin could be... based on what I see.

It does have FBL, but they seem a little light? It also does look like a MS-65, not sure why PCGS was so hard on it.
Is it an older slab or a new one?

It is an old green holder, but not a rattler.

Looks 64+ FBL Scratches on the head and the cheek are in the main focal area. Would not be suprised if it got a 65FBL

Brenpickle: I would grade this coin MS-64 WITHOUT FBL and so would NGC. Remember that they use both sets of bell lines to designate FBL and that contact mark in the top set of bell lines is just too obvious. Now PCGS might. They won't give you the 65 notice that long mark between both sets of bell lines --- the one you can measure with a yard stick. They won't forgive that. Look at the bottom set of bell lines and just about 2-3 mm left of the crack. That one little contact mark there is why I think they did not give it FBL. They very well could overlook that a second time. This would be good veto bait for you to resubmit with like 5-10 other Franklins and maybe they gong this one as an FBL but give you the FBL on 3 out of the 5 you really want and need it on.

The tricky thing is that depending on the person grading your coin, some forgive contact marks and just look for strike. Some will see the smallest little ding and forget FBL.
If you want a regrade, send to Ngc. For business strike franklins, I prefer Ngc for their stricter grading (both sets of bell lines).
That is a very nicely struck Ben... Pass and stow jumps out and if not for those couple of bagmarks/dings, you've got a fantastic coin!
Good luck!

I think I am just going to leave this one as is, or if I do crack it, then it will replace the one in my bu set in my dansco.

MS-65 by today's standards. When this coin was slabbed the grading was a bit tighter. This one falls short of FBL.
