***edited to add BG designation in subject*** I think overall you do not see too much activity on these but they are interesting. These are a challenge to grade since they are not so commonly seen. My pics are also beat so I'll apologize in advance enjoy thanks for looking Edited by dsfreeworld 06/19/2013 9:00 pm

Don't know the BG # right off the bat (714?) but I'm going with AUish. Mom knows these pretty well. I'll bring it to her attention ;-)

Kind of taking a shot in the dark as I am not very familiar with the California fractional gold. I'll guess MS-63.

They pics look like MS62, but they are a little grainy. This coin may go to MS63. As an aside, the rarity rating on a BG-911 is 4 (only about 100-150 known to exist.) This is one of the things that I find so interesting about fractional gold; even the common ones are pretty rare.

the rarity of these little lovelies is certainly unique. I also am learning through reading that a lot of these have never seen circulation so MS is common for them.

I got lucky on your last Cal fractional post, I stayed out of this one but I was thinking probably low MS from the grainy photos. Seems these are uncirculated or really circulated or damaged, must have been due to just how tiny they are.

They do seem to be mainly found in MS or dogged, agreed. Its feast or famine. I want to own some examples to round out my type collection overall but I don't think there is much of a market for these.
