Silver has lost more than half it's value. An oz is worth approx $19. That is all.

You cannot buy Eagles and Maples for spot price. People pay high prices for bullion coins on ebay for a couple of valid reasons......one there are usually no shops or retailers near them and also it is a good way to spend your Paypal money. Also it is obvious you have No concept of the sellers costs on ebay or Paypal.

Oh, I only sell about 100 coins a month on there.

I understand where you're coming from, but a huge amount of sellers out there are commanding prices as though precious metals are still at all time highs.

Kind of like one of my local coin shops. He's got a ton of maples he bought over $40, and because of that he refuses to sell them for a loss. No big deal, I just shop somewhere else.

Dear ebay buyer, we pay ebay fees, PayPal fees, postage and packing materials plus I am not selling generic bars. You are welcome to bid but don't expect spot that's would be a huge loss on the seller's part. Maybe you would prefer ordering your single ASE from APMEX and paying $12.50 shipping, except they don't take orders that small except on ebay.

Let the fools pay $35 for silver maples...Maybe this is how I will start to make my money. I'll just buy 100 maples at $23 each = $2300 sell them at $35 each free ship, after fees my profit is $30 per maple. Shipping will be regular mail ( $1 or $2)

so basically I can make around $27 per maple...profit of $400

^^^
if you buy maple for $23 and sell it for $35
your profit cannot be $30
do you math properly
otherwise you'll lose big

Your response was humorous, OP. I assume that was how we were supposed to take it, as a commentary on some ebay sellers who haven't figured it yet out that their bullion isn't worth nearly as much as they think it is, regardless of what they paid for it. I usually look at BIN prices and chuckle to myself, thinking, there is no way in the world these people could find suckers to pay those kinds of prices (but maybe they do, IDK). Judging by the ones I've seen, the markup vs auctions is typically 50% or more. It's a joke and seemingly a waste of time on the sellers' part, but again, enough people do it so someone must be selling. But as flabbergasted as I've been by witnessing this practice, what I don't do is send them emails complaining (i.e. offering my unsolicited opinion) about their prices. That would be rude, asinine, and most likely unproductive.

I figure costs for a first class ebay seller on a $35 to be about $7.19.

my apologies for the incorrect terminology...but you get what I meant lol

Profit of about $4 per maple sold. Thats only assuming I'm selling 1-3 maples per transaction in order to avoid shipping via small parcel. And also assuming I'm shipping to the US or Canada.

However, after looking at some completed listings, the buyers are ending up paying anywhere from $29-$38 per maple, including shipping. I guess this makes sense to international buyers who dont have easy access to Canadian or US bullion at fair prices. But if there are buyers IN the US or Canada paying these prices...well then...I may just consider selling at $35 BIN with free ship.
