I have moved your post to the precious metal section. The 1st "coin" is probably a bullion silver round produced by a private mint/company. I can't see the 2nd one, but its probably the same thing, a bullion silver round.

We can't answer w/out knowing the weight of the second round. If it's one ounce, like the first, you got quite an amazing deal. The first silver round could be sold on ebay for about $17-20.

Forgot to add, they're both replicas of real coins made by private mints. I believe I actually have both of them (definitely the first), but the second one comes in more than one weight. It's usually 1 or 2 oz.

if #1 is actually one ounce of .999 fine silver, it is worth around $20 USD. But since you only paid $5 AUD for both, they may be fakes.

their is a local coin shop in my area, would it be a good idea to just go in and ask them for information? I'm unsure of the etiquette of the Coin World and dont want to make a fool of myself

If you have a scale, make sure they are PRECISELY 1 oz. Fakers tend to get a little careless with weight.

I would hope your local coin shop is willing to help a potential customer.

It's never a bad idea to get to know your local coin dealer and I'm sure he/she will tell you if they're fake. Most LCS owners I've encountered take a while to warm up to newbies for some odd reason. Maybe you Aussies are different, though. Sel would be the one to ask.

Coin #2 looks like an 1845 American silver dollar. These are, um, kind of rare. Certainly not the kind of coin you're likely to find in the bargain bin at an Australian street market. So I'd start from the assumption that it's a Chinese copy, and try to disprove that assumption.

Coin #1 claims to be a silver ounce "round", but I'm skeptical. The lettering looks rather crude; I'd assume that this too is a Chinese copy.

Given the crudeness of coin #1, I'd also assume that neither item are anywhere near the weight they should be. #1 should be exactly 1 troy ounce (31.1 grams), #2 should be 26.7 grams. It's also likely that they are cheap steel copies, so the first thing to do is test them with a magnet. If the magnet sticks, they're definitely fake. If they don't stick, then move on to weighing them.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Am I the only person who is thinking those aren't even remotely the right color? Am I missing something here?

the color is off, but it may be an issue with the white balance
