I was inspired by Scooby Due who started the double die thread. A top thread it is too! So why not start a Cud error coins of the world thread? Cuds have always fascinated me and I'm now building a collection. I'm sure there's other like-minded collectors out there so here you can show us your CUD/s. I'll start with a 1971 Malaysia 1 Sen.

You should be aware that the terminology you're using is unique to Australia, thanks to a certain article-writer in the Australasian Coin & Banknote magazine who has unilaterally decided to assign his own definitions to the words he uses to describe errors and varieties.

In the rest of the world, particularly America, what we call " Cuds" are known as "die chips". They are only called " Cuds" (they're not actually " Cuds" - at least, I have never been able to find out what " Cud" is supposed to be an acronym for) if they are attached to the rim of the coin.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Thanks for clarifying that. I wasn't aware of your point. You should know that us Aussies are a unique lot living in a unique part of the world. I should ask you if you're 100% certain that Australia is the only country in the world that refers to these errors as ' Cuds'?

Consider my thread title changed to Cud and 'die chip' coin errors of the world (just to keep our Yankee alliances happy)

People in the EU collect these on Euro coins--but I'm unsure the word they used--it's not an English word.

Here's one of mine: a Cud on the relatively new Israel 2 Shekel coin.

Great pictures silvernut!
I like the chip/cud on the bull's "knee"--it looks like he's balancing something.

I just got two Irish 6ps and both had chips/cud on the bulls knees as well, except they were 1996. I will try to get some pics posted.
