I'm just wondering if anyone can provide or direct me to a list or some information on pre decimal British penny varieties? I'm looking for information on the high tide/low tide varieties and any others that carry a premium with collectors. Which dates have the variations, key dates, etc.. I'm pretty new to coin collecting and very new to British pennies. Any help at all would be great. Thanks all, this site is awesome!

http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/penny.html will give you an introduction.

And to make your mouth water ...

I should probably mention that there are many different 'micro' varieties and there are whole books written about them! Comprehensive, but pricey if you're just starting out.

I have this little book and it is superb. He also wrote one equally good about silver coins.
