Looking for a grade and valuation. I'm leaning towards EF-40 or higher.

Grading-A-1878-S-Quarter-Eagle

All opinions are appreciated. Sources would be great for valuations.

EF40 sounds about right, she's a bit nicked up so EF45 would be as high as I would go. Value about $250 retail. This is a common date and you can check Heritage auction records for similar pieces keeping in mind that lower gold prices and a slow summer season will limit the value at this time.

A nice coin that is worth hanging onto unless you need money right now.

EF40 or 45 hard to tell from the photos, but EF is about right on for the grade.

May grade EF-45 or possibly slightly higher. It may or may not be the lighting but it looks cleaned.

Hard to tell about the surfaces as the lighting is washing it out. Looks like EF45 maybe AU however the surface issues could knock it down a peg or even get a details grade
