Hey, guys. I know next to nothing about coins, so I'm hoping someone can give me some info on this nickel I received at work today.

I'm guessing it's a counterfeit, as it was clearly made of at least two parts, glued together. The back is missing, leaving the face and a rim with a hollow area in the back.

The visible face appears to be modeled after the 2005 Westward Journey Series (from what little I could find from Google), but that's about all I know.

Just curious if anyone knows what's up with this thing? Is it a counterfeit? If not - What the heck is it?

It looks like someone made it into a Magician's coin. Not really a counterfeit, it is a real nickel that has been altered.

I've seen nickels in magic shops that squirt water.
Could be what this is.

Magic coin used to make one and 10 cent coins disappear.
I also have similar Silver dollars and half dollars and quarters that were purchased from magic shops

If this were found in a box or loose change, I'd consider it a huge find. There are not many nickels worth what one costs in a store. Good eye!

Someone cut out the back in order to be able to remove the two peices and place a smaller coin inside. Not a fake coin, just an altered coin. Cool find
