A fellow we know, has 1524 Wheat cents in a plastic container. I would imagine they are mostly in the 40s and 50s, but he doesn't know for sure whats in there, he says he has been throwing them in the container for years. He wants us to make an offer.. what would they be worth? .03/04 cents each? Thanks..

Thanks, everyone...I told him that I had checked with some professional coin collectors, ..and they said that .03/,04 cents they thought was fair. He told me to give him $30.00 for the container and he would be happy, I said that was less than .03 cents each... he didn't care. So, I'll let you know what we find, if anything..

I agree with Three Cents being a fair offer. If you get them let us know what you find. John1

O.K..... We have gone through them... nothing earth shattering Total wheats = 1494 62-1943 'Steels"/ 622-1950s/ 636 1940s/ 88 1930s/ 52 1920s/ 33 teens/ Everything was just common dates, mostly from G-6-EF ..notables-1909/1914/1916D/1917/1924, were probably the best ones,(where were the D's for the '14 and the '24) Anyway.. we had fun looking through them, you don't see that many Wheats in Canada so, it was good trying to find a rare one.

The hunt is always fun, and the 62 steel cents were a good find. Maybe next time you can find something better

Out of curiosity SHAFTA9a...did you search for varieties and the like. I always search for RPM's and such. As a matter of a fact. I'm sitting here now going through a penny box full of loose coins that I tossed in it while CRH. It is full of coins that will be going in my collection. Either by dates (59 and older), condition (Nice eye appeal to me) or maybe a variety (Hanging numbers and the like). Sometimes when CRH...I'm more into getting through the coins and then I recheck the keepers at a later date. Gives me something to do on the slow days. :)
