I was planning to list this common quarter on ebay. I imagine it's a VG-10 overall with all that rim wear. But that date is so strong, could it plausibly make F-12? Either way, it's a $10 coin I suppose. Any thoughts welcome.

Obv VG10 but Rev looks G4. I would net the value at G6 but thats just me. you're pretty much right on with the price, I'm seeing similar ones going for $8 to as high as $18. I guess it depends on how bad someone is looking for one.

I think i's a stretch to call this coin anything higher than G6. reverse is definitely G4- lettering blending into the rim, almost no detail on the eagle. the leg on the obverse is worn off as are the toes. the drapery is not well defined over the left leg. The lettering is well worn - although the date is fine. G6 in a PCGS holder.

OK, I'll call it G in the listing. Been awhile since I handled SLQs, but usually the date isn't quite so strong in the lower grades, is it?

The SLQs with dates of 1925 and higher are MUCH stronger on the date area than the earlier SLQs, as the pedestal around the date is incuse and gives the coin much more protection from wear. So you can't bump the grade up or down based on the strength of the date like you can with 1924 and earlier. G6 is probably right, a seller could argue VG, but it won't go higher. I dont think it would go for too much above melt value, as this one is quite common. Nice original coin though!

The SLQs sure are beautiful. I can't get myself to part with the higher grade specimens I have. Any way I am listing this one on ebay for this evening. Bidding starts at $5 and I'll be happy with $10.

I'd get this one in an acetone bath as I see what looks like a build up of PVC gunk the green stuff. Won't hurt to q-tip rub on those spots a bit either since it's so low grade. At least stop the potential damage before it starts to eat into the surface and cause pitting.
