As seen as a US Post Colonial in the Red Book, I will post this here.
Although most refer to this as a token.

Was going through my boxes for the Chicago WFoM show and came across this. Forgot all about it to be honest

Obviously cleaned and well worn, I was still happy to see it

I wish I could just "go through boxes" at my house and find something like this!

Pretty roughed up - been in the ground I guess! Now two people have had the fun of finding it.

Its pretty cool how US coins from the 1700s closely resemble UK coins. Something like this could be used to prop up a sofa in the UK or just go straight to the melting pot. I'm guessing many have. I guess that shows how little we know about these colonial issues!

This type actually circulated in the Colonies. It amazes me how many Colonials handled this coin.
I wish this piece could talk..I'd sit with it for hours!

Thanks Vermontensium for sharing this piece of history. My early copper coin interests inspired me to read a Benjamin Franklin biography while I'm here at the beach in Maine. Today I'm reading the chapter where Franklin helped negotiate the peace in 1783. There's so much great information about our founding fathers in this book. I wish I had my Fugio at my side while I'm reading about Franklin.

My pleasure cipster :-)

I really like this piece. I too have read non-numismatic related books relevant to our Colonial times.
I immerse myself into the time period, sometimes closing my eyes and for a small instant, I'm standing on a street corner waiting to walk across as a horse drawn carriage draws closer.
