What do you think another coin (I don't own this one) but wish I did. Kind of a tricky one like the 1909 LHC I posted yesterday in modern grading. "Buy the Book Before You Buy the Coin" - Aaron R. Holy cow, that's near-flawless. I think 67 is Condition Census for this one; I'm calling the one I see here 66RD. What a coin.

Wow, Beautiful coin. I really don't know the series well enough to make an accurate guess, but I will give it my best shot.
MS-65 RB
Are the black marks between "In God" on the coin or the slab?

The black spots are carbon spotting most likely from someone a long time ago talking above the coin and saliva droplets landed on it. They do NOT affect grading in points off at this size.

I could imagine the obverse belonging to a proof since the surfaces kind of look like they could be reflective and mirror like. The reverse doesn't look quite as mirror like as the obverse but that could have something to do with the way it was photographed to help bring out the toning which is beautiful BTW! So like the lincoln, I am struggling with this a little bit. I will guess PR-65 RB and see how it turns out. The lincoln and this have been treat to see.

SsuperDdave you had it on your first guess for the grade, just not the color or the proof. This is the condition census coin for Proof 2¢ pieces. It is up at auction in 3 weeks at Heritage at Chicago ANA. Finest known Proof Two Cent Piece in existence; http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...8&lotNo=5526If anyone wants to pick this up for my birthday - feel free, I'll be glad to pay the shipping and insurance on it when you send it over! The 1864LM proofs are the second only to the small motto proofs in dificulty to find. I'll post the one I own in a following post, it's nowhere near as nice though. None of you got the proof part, these can be really tough to discern mint state from proof in really high grade, the tell is the rims and the 4 in the date is a bit higher. The reverse is easier to tell the polished die strike from the fields, along with the extreme definition of detail.

My old 1864 LM Proof (I sold this along with all my other proof Two Cent collection) Only missing the Small Motto and the 1873 Open 3. When my Dad got really sick and needed money for surgery. Someday again soon I'll rebuild my set. They weren't "quite as nice as the previous posting"
