I've just rewatched "The Silence of the Lambs" and noticed (at 1hr 48mins - great film, ridiculous wig) this scene:
Hannibal-Lecter-And-The-Banknotes.
Hannibal-Lecter-And-The-Banknotes.

Note 1 is Mexico 1000 pesos 1984- series.
Note 2 (I think) is East Caribbean 5 dollar 1988-93, I'm not totally convinced but couldn't find anything else close and the scene, I'm almost sure, is set somewhere there.
Note 3 is unidentifiable to me. Just not enough detail.
Note 4 is Jamaica 20 dollars 1978-98 series.

I think my wife and friends could be right when they say I have too much time on my hands!

The second one looks like a Bahamas note (one line of text)

Hannibal-Lecter-And-The-Banknotes.

The third one may possibly be French? Most likely not though... a good part of the note on the first picture is covered by the left side of the Jamaica note.

Well done wd. I think you're right about the Bahamas. I was misled because I thought I saw a 5 in the top right-hand corner. And the suggestion for number three (the French note) also looks good to me.
Nice to find someone else out there who could be a "need to know" nut!

Wow, finally someone who can see the small things in films and can rewind, pause and investigate it. You know what I am talking about, that small revolver the detective pulls from his ankle and you just have to count the rounds fired. Then you discover that his six shot revolver was able to fire 37 rounds without a reload. Thanks for sharing this, it really made my day.

Does anyone recalls if the place in which those banknotes were displayed was a magazine stand or an improvised money exchange? the reason I'm asking is because the move was released in 1991, and supposedly the events taking place in the movie where also in the early 90's, and the Mexican $1000 note was already obsolete (since 1988 replaced by a coin).

Just watched the scene again and Hannibal is speaking from a bar shack at a small airport set (I think) on a Carribean island.
I have frequented many similar bars here in South_east Asia and owners/customers like to pin notes on the walls to promote their "international" credentials.

Some bars and cafes & no doubt other places, put notes on display but I don't imagine they would be necessarily current notes. If the film was released in 1991 then 1988 wasn't to far in the past. The props manager probably just got a few notes together to add some degree of authenticity to the back drop and did not think to much of what was being put on display. At least they were reasonably current. I heard about a movie set in the 18th century and in a scene on a ship there was a truck driving along a road on the land in the background and apparently some one in Ben Hur in the chariot race is wearing a watch. I would take mine off if I was chariot racing, you could break it!!
