I got outbid in the last .1 second on this coin! Thought the die crack in front of face was interesting. Also the difference in thickness of the rim area from the right to left side of coin. Anyone know the N variety? Value? Seems to be in VF condition. Thanks Jerry http://www.ebay.com/itm/BEAUTIFUL-1...t_601wt_1162

Be glad you didn't buy it. The obv die is misaligned but not to a great extent. The edge has been damaged flattening the coin above the sixth and seventh stars (the coin isn't round anymore), and the "die crack" is not a crack it is a post mint damage cut. Not to mention the other cut between stars 3 and 4 or the ones through star 11.

thanks for your reply conder. I noticed the out of round aspect too. That cut in front of the face sure looked die related to me. Glad I did not win if it was PMD. Jerry

Misaligned dies were very common in 1853 for some reason. It doesn't command a premium when it is this minor.
