MEEE! Wow I'm so excited. I've been searching for one of these since I started collecting currency. I've scrounged on ebay, ha stack, garage sales, estate sales, Coin auctions Swap meets, CSH. Finally this baby went on ebay last week. After discussing payment options with the seller(great guy btw) I was good to go. I cant belive I finally get to own one. I'm so happy I can talk about it, I wanted to post here but was worried about competion As it turned out there were only two other watchers and no one else bid! My largest currency purchase yet. Ill try to upload the sellers photos to this thread. This note is a HUUUGGGGEEE milestone in my BEP Experimental Currency Printing set. The 2nd hardest note to aquire, with the Gilbert Test note being #1. The description in the Auction give a good description of these notes, for those who arent aware of them, as a lot arent. I still want to aquire the Star, $10 star and the 3 rd print on reverse error for my set. I Belive jim61 had/s one of the errors for sale that I'm still saving for. And you had asked for info on these notes, I'm not sure if you have this one in your census or not. Wow I'm so happy, I can't wait to hold it in hand. I just had to share. Thoughts and opinions welcome. I so excited to talk about it. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/view...370857497421 EDIT The photos wont upload from my phone. Could someone please upload them for me. Thanks. Ill cut and paste the sellers description for easier reading. I believe this info to be mainly accurate. The BEP wanted a second supplier that produces our currency paper. They awarded the contract to the Natick Paper Co of Natick MA. They printed 3,840,000 notes E76800001H -E80640000H all the ones known are mules with BP's 3,4,5,6. There are 14 Natick notes known. 9 have the 3rd print on reverse error. The non-error Naticks are scarcer .A description of the other notes in my set an more on Natick notes can be found in this page under the exlerimental printing section towards the bottom. http://www.uspapermoney.info/serials/all___s.html Edited by GoldenChest 07/25/2013 11:14 pm

Am I reading that description correctly? Out of 3.84 million printed, only 14 are known, and nine of those have a major error?
Great buy!

Yes. Crazy right? I'm sure theres a few more hiding in collections somewhere out there, just waiting to be discovered. I hope to find the star note verisons next.
Hey coinsearcher, you're almost at 1000 posts. And I'm almost at the big 500. Wow this has been a great day. I swear I could dance a jig. Lol

Probably people saved out the error notes for the same reason they save out all other error notes. Out of 3.84 million $1 FRNs of any series, how many "normal" non-star, non-error notes does anyone bother to save?

That exactly right. The errors were different and thus more survived, making this an even greater find. I was shock when this non error non star popped up on almost all my saved ebay searches I had set up for hunting these notes down.

I just bookmarked this thread and posted both the ebay and this CCF links to my niece. Will reply on why this was done later.

Lol ok? I can't wait to hear why. Thanks everyone for the congrats. I've wanted one of these more than any other numanistic item ever, save maybe the 1961 Franklin Proof DDR. All of your congrats make the satisfaction of owning one that much more special. Thank you all. Jim61, out of curiosity, when could we expect your comprehensive report on Natick notes to be finishe? I can't wait to purchase a copy, perhaps even an auto graphed one.

GC: Congrats!!!!!!!
I see you were the only bidder, and you got a little nervous and increased your bid 2xs. How much were you willing to go on this puppy?

Jim61- thanks for the update, ill be happy just to have an authority publish such a report. I'm thinking of tryino put together a guide specificaly about the different experimental notes. KopperKen You are correct. I took the opening bid after I had talked tothe seller. A short while later I realized I needed to set my max bid (i had forgot what with the excitement of finding the note in ebay). I set it to $642. Then I discovered watchcount.com and noticed 2 other people watching it. So at the very end of the auction I again raised my max bid to 842, just to b sure. . Which would have been 850 with shipping. Which would have totally blown my budget but soo been worth it. $500 was to much already lol, but again worth it in my mind. Actual retail value? I'm not sure. Its hard to price this as few havd sold at auction, at least that I can find. This was the first nonerror I've found for sale. I'm curious who the other two people were who were watching. I wonder if it was anyone here on CCF. On a side note, does anyone kno if you have to be a member of PCGS to view the photos in their forum? I'm trying to load this page on experimental notes, but none of the pictures will load. Never had this problem before.

GoldenChest: I learned something today --- I'd never heard of the Natick Test Notes --- I do know of Natick as being a city in Massachusetts though. I don't tend to pay too much attention to Federal Reserve Notes but I'm thinking this might very well make a good candidate for certification --- IF you could get NGC or PCGS to attribute it as a Natick test note.
