Hey all, I've been considering purchasing this coin, and since I'm fairly new to collecting, I was wondering if I could get some help on the grade and a fair price?

Personally I'd pass on that one. It looks to be harshly cleaned from the pictures. VF details.

I agree with the previous poster. You can see tons of abrasive lines all around the eagle, especially between it's belly and the date. The photo is also in black and white which is suspicious. It might look horrible under real light.

definitely harshly cleaned, stay away from this coin, there are much better VF coins available; you could get a nice uncleaned VF FE for $40-$50

Agree with all the above. Unless this coin was being practically given to me, I would walk.

I'd say about VF-20 to EF-40 for a grade. Yes appears cleaned but then again, so what. Or do you go around saying things like, Hey, Look at my cleaned coins. 17,450,000 minted so not a rare coin. Even if cleaned should be in the $75 range, maybe less. Not a coin you'll find in change anymore.
So much depends on the price. If cheap enough, I'd buy it. Great for a place in an Album.

The strong directional marks in the fields suggest a harsh scrubbing--wait for a better example.

Every time you look at it, the scratches would bother you because you would know its cleaned harshly. I have a really nice 1908-S Indian Head cent that's cleaned and recolored and it bothers me every time I look at my album. Lol I need to get a new one.
