Quite a coincidence that I got both of these items today at the LCS.

Going through some unsorted detritus that had built up while one of the staff was out, I came across this medal. I recall reading a previous write-up from Commemm about pieces like this:

Stone-Mountain-Pickup

Then as I was looking for a Lincoln half in the classic commemorative tray, I stumbled across this guy, and the album toning in hand is just beautiful. The photos don't give it justice.

Stone-Mountain-Pickup

I think this coin's new home will be in my Dansco 7070 since my commemorative type set has exclusively untoned coins so far.

A very nice pair of LCS pickups! Congrats!

I think the medal and coin make a great pair of commemoratives for the Stone Mountain Memorial - the medal showing the "end result" of the massive carving, and the coin depicting more of a "what might have been" scenario.

Here's a link to my earlier post that you mentioned: https://goccf.com/t/119791

I should note that these medals were struck by the US Mint and the Medallic Art Company. Your medal does not include the "P" mint mark, thus making it one of the MACO specimens.

Very well done indeed.

Pleased to observe another example of commems tremendous 'education' posts being out to good service by another collector of these coins.

I'll bet that Stone Mountain Half is incredible in hand.
I'm guessing more magenta, blues, and greens.
