I'm curious -- what goes on in the background when you roll hunt? TV? Music? Silence? Do you work with family or alone? Floor? Coffee table? Desk? I thought it would be interesting to hear people's ideal roll hunting setup.

I usually put on a standard 1980's shoot-em-up action movie like RoboCop or First Blood (AKA Rambo for those who prefer the simple titles) or The Terminator...something like that. Then again, I like watching those movies even when I am not CRHing.

Haha, its funny you say that SkyShark... I love lots of 80's flicks, and my other half hates them. Usually the only time I can watch them without commentary from her is when we are CRHing. I think she gets so focused on roll hunting that the movie is just background noise for her... works for me :)

Sit at the dining room table that's used more for CRHing rather than dining. I'll sometimes just hunt and other times I'll pop some headphones on and listen to music while searching for treasures.

I usually listen to baseball games on the radio (since I don't have cable). I have a desk set up in the corner of our storage room in the basement so I can get a little quiet time in without the wife or kids making a racket.

I usually listen to old coast to coast broadcasts, or some conspiracy video on youtube, or I'll put on an episode of some stand up comedy(IE George Carlin, David Spade, Chris Rock etc) and I always hunt on the floor

It's interesting to hear the variety . I gotta say, Netflix has been my friend. Another question -- Late night, early morning, weekends, lunch break?

Mine varies each time. On the floor, on the table, at work during lunch. Morning, afternoons, late nights. And I'll watch Netflix, Hulu, or listen to podcasts. Sometimes my girlfriend helps, sometimes my daughter will help look for wheats, even my boss has helped at work look through my nickels.
Each time can be different.

It would be fun to start a local CRH club or something. Go through a case of coins (and perhaps a matching case of beer).

I usually roll hunt at my computer desk with headphones listening to the Grateful Dead with a nice cold IPA. It's usually a pretty mellow time but I have been known to scream out "score!" from time to time.

A wise old man once told me, "Why stand when you can sit? Why sit when you can lay?". Lol, I lay in prone position on my carpeted floor with Dr. Oz in the background. I have bad ADHD, heh, so the more stimuli the better, I guess. Also, for some reason roll hunting / double checking my sorted coins is a great alternative to warm milk or a nightcap.

I don't really roll-hunt, but when I get half-dollars in rolls from the bank, I always check them. It's less the silver-clads that I worry about, as things that aren't half-dollars at all, such as a 1980s Mexican ten-peso. Last week I got four rolls, & I sat down on the pavement outside the bank, tore them all open, & counted them out into wrappers I had with me. I wound up with five rolls, because I had a few in my pocket already, & I got 19 loose as well.

I work nights and am a natural night owl anyway so I usually hunt during the late afternoons or evenings, but sometimes if I get a late start I will be hunting after midnight.
