Arabic Translation Needed - Coin Community Forum

GO Moderator United States 6563 Posts	Posted 05/31/2007 9:51 pm Ok I know this isn't coin related but it's linguistics so that's how I rationalize it. Can anyone please translate this for me. My church is sending out care packages to Afghanistan and they were given all these boxes to send them in with no clue as to it's meaning. Thanks!! Report this Post to the Staff

EgCollector Pillar of the Community Egypt 3470 Posts	Posted 06/02/2007 10:48 am Hi graceoutcast I cant read the first word (DOSTY), I think this is not Arabic language, I know its written in Arabic but it has no meaning for me. Yet may be its a slang language used in Afghanistan or a name of something there ( a city ..etc) sometimes a foreign word is written with Arabic words the way it is pronounced. The middle word is Afghan. It is either an abbreviation of Afghanistan or if not an abbreviation it means Afghani (people of Afghanistan). The third word is America. So the whole sentence is (DOSTY)Afghan America , the whole sentence have no meaning to me. Sometimes Arabic words are used in different languages eg. Turkish and Indian but this doesn't mean that the language is Arabic. I don't know exactly what language they speak at Afghanistan but I think that Arabic is not their first language.
