I've recently picked up the '88 '93 & '97 Hong Kong coin issues on ebay but cannot seem to find any past that date. Does anybody know of a HK coin issue since the British hand over to China? Also I think I'm right in saying that there have been no other issues from '88 onwards apart from what I've mentioned but if I'm wrong I'd appreciate somebody letting me know. Thanks.

( When I say issues I mean the standard yearly coins released for normal circulation )

I have both a 1998 10 cent coin as well as 10 dollars and 1 dollar from 1994.

Standard coins were released for circulation almost yearly since the '70s or so. I think you bought the mint sets or proof sets, which were indeed release only in those years you secified.

Ok...understood thanks. Do you know if any yearly 'sets' were issued as opposed to individual coins?

Yes...that is correct. I've bought 3 mint sets but can't seem to find any since the Chinese take over. Maybe they haven't updated the coins as a 'set' yet?

If I'm not mistaken, Hong Kong mint sets were produced rather irregularly, the most commonly found is the 1997 set. I don't believe there were mint sets for every year since 1980s. Most sets aren't rare execpt the first year mint proof set which perhaps is 1983 (don't count me on it since I'm remembering it off the top of my head) but otherwise, not too rare.

According to the 2006 Krause, mint and proof sets were only issued in 1988, 1993 and 1997. The only set of any kind issued post-handover is a 2002 proof set of bimetallic silver-gold $50 coins. The only SAR circulation coins appearing in the list are dated 1997 and 1998, though others may well exist; Krause sometimes takes a while to catch up.
