I like ANACS because they are a respectable grading company and they normally grade very conservatively. They also will grade coins that the other 2 will just send back and keep your money. And you don't even have to sign up for any membership which is very nice if you only want to grade a dozen coins or so.
I doubt if anyone is going to vote on PCI SEGS and defiantly not PCGA. Those IMHO are nothing more then coins slabbed in some old guys basement.

Ok it's some young whipper snapper trying to make a buck in his mom's basement with a soapy sponge cleaning these wonderfully slabbed coins.

That is strange, when I go to PCGS online I can not get a coin grade unless I sign up for a membership....I would like to go to PCGS but that pushed me off to ANACS. Do you have a link or something where you get your coins graded from PCGS?
Thanks

I'm not sure which would I would vote for. NGC is the only one I've sent a coin to (one coin so far, big whoop, right?). PCGS seems to be more maligned on Moderns, with the First Strike stuff, but seem to be more valuable than NGC slabs. It's almost a stuffshoot on who to send your coins too. Doesn't PCGS charge $100 for a year's membership?

A Coin Community Forum member recommended to me to use ICG for my Washington Smooth Edge Dollar Coins. No membership involved, reasonable prices, fast turnaround. ICG is one of the top four grading services. Most sources I've seen rate them number 3 after PCGS & NGC & before ANACS. I've seen some rate them above NGC at number 2. They will not charge you if your coin is not graded (except for a $5 administration fee). No "body bagging" at full price like the others! Their price for modern coins is $12 for the grading certification & $5 for the error certification = $17. PCGS wanted $40 for the same coins, triple the turnaround time & you had to be a member or go through a dealer & pay a surcharge. Resale value is higher with PCGS but I felt it wasn't worth the hassle. ICG iseasy to deal with & have a quick turnaround. http://www.icgcoin.com/ Mind you, if I had a 1909S-VDB, 1955DD, or similar big-time Key Date of any denomination, I would definitely go PCGS, because then it would be worth the extra price & hassle relative to the extremely high value of the coin.

Snookless,
BTW, I just noticed you had listed IGC instead of ICG. IGC is from amongst the "grading" group of "coins slabbed in some old guys basement." They used IGC to trick unsuspecting people to think that they were ICG, as many of these scam companies have done with their similar sounding initialed companies, to fool people into mistaking them for the legitamate companies. You should correct this in the Poll choices to show the "real" company: ICG.

PCGS will sometimes not grade your coin and still charge you? How the hell can they do that? Please explain because I'm thinking of sending some coins to them.

You are paying for a service of their time basically. They charge per coin and if that coin is damaged or cleaned they will not grade it and you still pay. If someone were newer collector that isn't sure about cleaned coins and such I would recommend to hold off until you know what you have here first. Posting pictures in our Grading Practice Forum is a good first step too.

I posted some pics in the general forum. Should I move them here? I know my coins have never been cleaned or anything, but another set of eyes would be good.

Main Forum is just for anythin that doesn't fit in a normal category. For checking on grading and cleaned coins and such I recommend using the Coin Grading Practice. It will receive the same amount of attention as any other section of the Forum.

I like PCGS'S prestige, NGC's holders, and ANAC's grading damaged/cleaned coins. Now just to combine all three...I know PNA! Watch, now PNA is going to be a new grading service on ebay in about a week.
