Brand new to collecting and went through my first 15 rolls of cents today. Actually all I did was separate by decade and now I'm cherry picking through looking for anything of value. I happened across what I think is a 1983 double die error, but I'm so new that I'm not sure. I've posted 2 pictures of the reverse and one of the obverse (front and back for me, but I think I'm using the right terminology).

The coin appears to be in pretty good shape, almost too good considering the rest of the crud on my table.

Anyway - can someone confirm that this is in fact a double die error, and then give me an opinion on the grade of the coin? I would really appreciate it.

The doubling seems obvious on the O in one, but again I'm brand new.

Here's a cropped image as suggested.

To me it looks like Die Deterioration on the upper part of the O.

The Obverse (front) looks like the rim disappears off to the right of the coin.
I Its hard to tell from the pics. They are VERY clear and many will thank you for that.

I recommend opening the coin picture up in a photo editor and cropping it. Then, save the picture.
Reopen it and see if you can resize the photo keeping any aspect ratio (same dimensions top to bottom and left to right)

It may make a big difference for us to see what you see.

I'm trying to type with coin gloves on, hope this makes sense = )

I just noticed the obverse rim disappears as soon as I posted. I cropped the image, but I'm not sure if I gave you what you needed. Thanks for the help!

It looks like Machine Doubling, I agree. I tell people about this website so they can understand the difference;

As a matter of fact, they demonstrate the Machine Doubling on a 1983 Lincoln Cent.

Thanks for the cropped image, it made a difference.
