In the photos it looks as if the coins are in some kind of powder, maybe salt or sugar? I wouldn't mind getting the payment all in "pennies". I hope it's a collector and he finds a few coins that are worth something.
At the very least he should have some copper.

If the coins are in salt or some powder it would probably ruin any collector value.

I remember once reading in a UK newspaper about the bomb squad being called to investigate a suspicious package mailed to a police station - the package was found to contain a speeding fine paid by a motorist in pennies!

It looks like rice with the pennies.

I got a kick out of the fact that the ex-wife shorted him three dollars for the containers. Then gave him the receipt for them so he could return them and get his $3 back. Think I'd one up her and get a high dollar penny and claim it was in the pile.

Good Lord... Aye, that's rice in there. Perhaps more on the wedding theme? O_o

I find it interesting that she owed him money, and it was only $50.12

Quote: Yokozuna I hope it's a collector and he finds a few coins that are worth something. Here was the first comment when the husband posted about the pennies on reddit Quote:You should send her a note back thanking her for mixing the pennies with rice and beans. As a result of her decision you had to separate them one by one and in the process of doing so you found a 1943 Copper Wheat penny valued at over $100K. She will be livid.

Definitely looks like rice which absorbs moisture so it should actually help preserve the coins. (assuming it's dry rice and not cooked)

She did the rice so he couldn't just dump them in a coin counter. He's better off.

Wouldn't work in most divorses I know of. Half of the house or money equivalent. Same with cars, furniture, bank accounts, savings bonds and on and on with stuff.

At some point in her life I hope she can get over things more easily and be able to take the high road once in a while. She seems like a pretty irritating person and he will be better off without her.
