I was shocked today when this happened. I only marked about 5 coins I ever found these where ones with stickers on them already. took 8 months to find it again. My dump banks are a different bank not a different location. a totally different name and location. then my banks I get halves from. they are 10-15 miles away from each other. what are the chances of getting the same coin back? Well I guess pretty good. I am going to find a new location. or take a break on CRH for a few months. I average 6-12 boxes a week. In my area I hit a 50 mile radius and hundreds of banks. in the last 2 years.

Kind of makes me wonder how many times I've looked at the same coin without ever realizing it........

I used to write my initials on every dollar bill I got, right above George's head. I never got one back but a friend did some time afterward.

I am not surprised for the following reason. Halves just are not ordered from banks anymore for circulation purposes. The only people who get halves from banks are silver hunters. So they just keep getting recycled except for the occasion when someone brings in there coins that have been sitting in a drawer or a jar.

^^^ I agree with this as it is 99% true. The only places that order halves for circulation are small towns like the one 30 minutes from me. I think its a novelty. Small town, old looking, getting half dollars in change. Something about the feel of the place.
Other than novelties like that, half searchers just keep ordering halves. The hope is that a family deposited (out of ignorance) "some old junk that gandpa used to hold onto"

There are a few banks in my area that tell me businesses deposit halves. We have a harness raceway, for one, that takes halves from customers, maybe slot machines.

I made my own monogram which I've been putting on all 2x2 lighthouse holders that I ship away. Might try the note thing - place a monogram somewhere on all notes I get.
