Does anyone know a way to remove fingerprints without causing scratches on a coin? I managed to let my fingers slip onto the surface and now they're there and wish to not scratch it in any way. Thanks.

If the fingerprint is fresh
use acetone as fast as possible
any touching with even silk will ruin the surface

My friend said any ellbow grease will ruin the coin and he was right
Keep patience with the acetone and do not aid it in any mechanical means
Microcloth will get you very bad slabbing if you ever try

As noted only use Acetone. That is if the fingerprints are fresh. If old, to late maybe. Here is another tip though not mentioned usually. How do you put the coin in and take out of the Acetone. If you use your fingers, not to smart. First of all the Acetone you use may no longer be pure enough for the job. To start with take a very clean GLASS dish, put some of the Acetone to be used in that dish and allow to evaporate. If there is a white residue left, the Acetone has disolved something possibly from the inside of the original can. If not proceed by using a glass spoon, knife or something glass to insert the coin and removing it. If you do not have such items try a tweezers being really carefull not to scratch the coin. Place in another dish with distilled water, then place on a soft cotton cloth, blow dry with a hair dryer.

I use a shot glass that if you drop the coin into it the coin will wedge halfway to the bottom
Coin edge touches glass
Then I pour the acetone onto the coin and shake slighly to make sure no air bubble is left under the coin
Ten minutes if my first try because I am inpatient

Taking the coin out I mostly disregard rules and take it out by the edges by an ungloved hand

As long as my local supermarket has the same plastic bottles I do not worry ( I think they are PET = polyethylene tereftalate yes ? )

Polyethylene terephthalate, exactly. Your method is identical to mine. I have a slightly larger glass for Morgans and Taler-sized coins, as well.
