Those are some nice Morgans for second stringers. That's quite an accomplishment to obtain all those rare dates/MMs. Very nice collection.

Great group of back ups Ralph! I wish I could focus on the keys for this series. I keep getting distracted by die varieties in the common dates.( my excuse to hoard )

Two sets of Morgan dollars? You're my hero. Seriously, that is quite an accomplishment. Did you start each of these sets from scratch? Have you considered including a "tribute" 1895 Morgan to fill that hole?

Darth Morgan - no sir. I started the first set from scratch, and the second set came about as a result of upgrading the first set over the years.

aladinslamp - If you'd care to view my first set, I started a thread on the 19th of this month "Upgraded Morgans - 1st Set".

Awesome set! Never mind the fact it is your one of lesser grades! Love the patina on some of those! Thanks for sharing!

westcoin - I started the first set with the 8TF, 7/8TF, 7TF-3rd Reverse, and the 79s- 2nd Reverse, and I've upgraded those coins so that they are a part of the second set, as well.....just didn't post them with the album pages scans. As for VAMs, there are a few that will make the list, but I've just never been able to sink my teeth into the vamming area of Morgan dollars.

Nice set for a second set, congrats!! You might want to sink your teeth into the VAM thing, there might be a small treasure lurking in your set{s}, I know I've been vamming for about 7 or 8 years and it is now an addiction/passion....I went through my sets and vammed some very rare ones...just saying.

tinman - thanks - I appreciate your advice. Its my understanding that every Morgan is a VAM, and I've no doubt, if I could get into the VAM area of Morgans, there'd be some more desirable than others, but, right now, for me, the fun is in the collecting, and less on the value of what I have. I don't rule out the VAM thing, and I may well decide, at a later date, to navigate into those waters, but, for now, I'm just a simple collector of coins.
