So am I the only one who keeps all the ATB and US territories quarters I find? I have a BU set I am assembling, but I hang on to all of these, just like I do when I find a Bicentennial quarter. Is it just me?

I think a lot of kids collect those. However, many collectors I know did as I did and stopped collecting quarters after the State ones. It was fun at first but gets to be sort of like stamp collecting. Just to many different ones and to many of them produced. None of them seam to sell good at coin shows either. I suspect they will be a collectors item in the future but I just don't know anyone that collects them now. Since so many Folders have been made for them, this must mean there is some interst in them.

I keep them all because in Canada, they are a novelty.

My State Quarter folder is also going pretty well - about 2/3rds of them are D-mints. I guess Philadelphia is a long way away from Alberta...

State Quarters created a "perfect storm". You could load up on BU rolls at banks for face value, and too many people did just that.

Then, masses of people tried to get rid of their State Quarters during the low point of the recession (2009-10), only to find the coins shops wouldn't buy them for more than face value.

Those people won't be saving ATB Quarters, assuming they could even find any in circulation. Some CCF members have yet to find an ATB Quarter in circulation, others have found only a few.

And banks cannot special-order the ATB Quarters, massively reducing the face-value hoarding that occurred with State Quarters.

Some people complain about the "high" mintages of newer varieties like the Denali-D, while forgetting that even the highest-mintage ATB Quarters are still lower than the lowest-mintage State Quarter variety (the Oklahoma-D), AND people can't hoard BU Rolls of ATB's at the bank.

All this creates the exact opposite of the State Quarter situation (low mintages, no face-value hoarding and very hard to find in circulation), boding well for future collectors.

As for the proliferation of ATB Quarter folders, I suspect the folder companies wildly over-estimated the collector base, because the masses who were saving State Quarters are not really saving ATB Quarters, for the reasons outlined above.

Skyshark, I am a avid ATB collector, I keep everyone I find, well except for the really nasty ones.
DNA explained it well, this is a much more elusive set to collect than State Quarters...

I collect both the State Quarters and the ATB, in silver proof PF69. As soon as I fill out the State Quarter collection (NGC PF69 UCAM)I'll get to work on the ATBs.

I like shiny new uncirculated coins so modern silver proofs are all I can afford in that class. As long as it's a US silver proof, I am collecting or intend to collect it.

I only save them because I collect all kinds of coins, but I really feel this "circulating commemorative quarter" bit has been over-played. I hope and pray the Mint does not release yet another commemorative after the ATBs are done. And oddly enough, I actually think I like the ATB designs more than the State Quarters. I think it's the reverse with the circular border trimming the image that makes it look more...finished.

I've found three - two in change (the exact same, too: White Mountain-D) and one was dug out of a playground at a national park (Glacier-P, I also found a British pound - and Glacier is the closest American national park to the Canadian national park I dug it in!).

I live in Alaska and we seem to have an overabundance of the Denali quarters. I get them almost daily in pocket change. I also find a few yellowstone and Yosemite, but haven't found any of the others yet. I wonder if they release more in certain areas, or if we have local collectors who are roll searching the Denali's and then dumping them into circulation. However they're getting here, I keep all the nicer coins I find.

I have a roll of AU-BU ATB Quarters and have just started another. I keep ATB Quarters because I like them. If I get bored with them, I'll do with them as I did with my State Quarters: spend them. I too have more Denali's than any of the others, which isn't surprising: The mintage of the Denali is about for times greater than any of the ATB Quarters that preceded it. If the mintage of the Denali (about 300 million, according to the 2013 Red Book) is indicative of the likely mintage numbers of coins in the series yet to come, then I think that bodes well for the collectibility of all those that preceded the Denali in 2010-2012, provided they're in good condition. Roughly speaking, and prior to the Denali, there have been only a tenth as many of the ATB Quarters minted as there were State Quarters.

I'll keep any coin as long it is looks like it just came from a new roll. The coins that have been beat up, I recirculate them.

In the SoCal area, the Territories and ATB Quarters are hard to come by. I still get a lot of Eagle-backs and State Quarters.

It was a 1990 pound, worn enough that "ONE POUND" was difficult to read.

It had the leek in the crown like my other 1990, so I assume it's legit, but I'm kind of hoping I'll find a fake pound one day...

I save all ATBs, although the Denalis are piling up. Seem to be getting a lot of Great Basin and Perry's too.
