Just to one, rather blurry side - but it's Dutch East Indies company - the VOC coin from the late 1700's minted to circulate in the Dutch possessions of the time. VOC stands for something in Dutch - but I can;t remember what exactly off the top of my head,

"Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie, Dutch for "United East India Company". Yes, it is a coin, or appears to be one anyway. VOC coins were struck for Dutch possessions in Indonesia and Sri Lanka/India. Given that this coin looks particularly thick for its size, I would guess it is an Indian one.

India would make sense as the dear old friend they belonged to spent many years out their in the British Navy.
Are they quite common?
