I can't believe that I found an upgrade (my opinion) within 24 hours of posting the 1840-O. Just call me fickle I guess. If there is one thing that I have learned is that you can't take too much time pondering about a coin, I have been too late for too many times. I would like to hear what the CCF members have to say about this lovely lady in comparison to PCGS had to say. Thank you for your interest!

Nice, I'd say they said EF-45.. I nailed the last one, lets see if I'm close on this one Obviously it's about personal preference, but for me I like the 1840-O you replaced with this one.. But then again I prefer colorful toning, so that may have something to do with it.. But ya, given a choice between the two I'd take the '40-O you posted everyday and twice on Sunday, even though the details on this one are better.. To me at least the first one had much better eye appeal, though less detail remaining.. Don't get me wrong, this is still a beautiful coin with great details! And if you like it more then that's all that matters! It's funny how opinions differ when it comes to personal tastes..

The first time I saw the 41-O I thought that it looked familiar...does Eliasberg ring any bells? Not that I am saying that this one has the pedegree.
Nathan, Sunday is coming up and nobody has squaked loud enough about taking the 40-O off my hands...yet.
Thanks as aways for your comments! (twofourtwo owtruofowt)

The obverse rim at 9:00 is a concern. Assuming they graded it problem-free I'd guess XF45. It is a nice coin.

Quote:The die cracks sold me on this one. I would be lying if I said that the die cracks did not catch my attention first! Once again you guys were all over this one. I got this one set aside from J.J.Teaparty. I mentioned Eliasberg earlier and that this one looked familiar. I picked up a few Gobrecht Club pamphlets from a CCF Memeber and the Eliasberg Half graced the front and back covers; (I left the clear, large images from Heritage at the house computer . Here is an interim image.) Louis had a MS63 version which shows the "character cracks" a lot better than this circulated version. Early Die Stage WB-101's (Large Mint Mark) of course do not exhibit the same cracked die lines, like the one (AU58 or 55) that is going to be auctioned off at Long Beach in September. I feel that the die cracks (not quite the famous "baseball crack") add lots of character to the coin! I am defiantly looking froward to placing this beauty in the Half Dollar tray. Thanks for playing along.
