Way too many coins released. I'm personally turned off.

also turned off. and I think people will begin to catch on to their strategy of putting out an overwhelming amount of coins and hyping up the ones with the lowest mintages/first in a new series every month.

Thanks for posting the article, Lostwords! From same: Quote: For the entire fiscal year, the Mint anticipates releasing 202 numismatic coins as they continue to build their customer base in existing markets and open new markets. Anybody planning to buy the "complete set" of TWO HUNDRED AND TWO coins? I know I am...

The Q2 revenue increase was driven mostly from bullion as investors purchased on the downward trend of PM. Numismatics did increase year over year in Q2 but had declined marginally in Q1. Just on Q2, the mint issued 51 products and had only 13 sell-outs. Contrast that with 25 issues and 18 sell-outs in Q2 2012. That is not good year over year performance for the mint. For the half year, the numismatic line is $82M this year compared with $75.7M in 2012 while increase offerings from 70 to 103 items. Again, not stellar. Given the lack of sell outs so far in Q3, it might be a bit early to break out the champagne at the RCM staff party. Interesting quote from the Q2 results release: "The "$20 for $20" and "$100 for $100" coins have proven to be very successful in building the Mint's customer acquisition program. At the same time, demand from collectors in Europe and Asia remains strong while demand in the U.S. enjoyed significant growth in the quarter, partially due to coins designed for the U.S. market and broader exposure through The Shopping Channel."

Maybe 1-2 Mint releases a year appreciate in value. The 2012 Deluxe Silver proof set and the Titanic coins were the winners last year, this year it looks like just the Silver Eagle.

That $100 bison coin is quite a strong image. This one is not like most because of the detail involved. I think that the RCM couldn't wait to put out the ideas they had instead of stretching them out for a while.

I'm not holding my breath for a commemorative depicting the Canadian Senator of the year.
