Why would the 2013 Gold Eagle cost 1710.00 with the coin being a solid 1 ounce of gold.

The 2013 American Buffalo, another gold coin, only this coin has 24 carats,of one ounce of 0.9999 purity of fine gold.

Is it simple that the Buffalo has the more finer gold in the coin. IF so, is it just that fact or another reason I am not acuston to.? Need the input!

I really do NOT collect much gold coinage, except for the last 5-6 years, just looking for input, Thanks......

Why would it be $1710? Because it is a coin not just bullion. For that reason you can ask more for it, and people are willing to pay that $1710 for it. If they weren't the price would be lower.

The eagle and the buffalo are different finenesses, but they both contain the same exact amount of fine gold so the eagle weighs more than the buffalo. The buffalo weighs one oz, the eagle weighs 1.1 oz. One oz of gold and one tenth oz of copper. Some people do prefer to buy coins with the higher fineness though
