This is one of the good one, early die stage, no polishing lines around date, ms-65 is worth 95 dollars (potter)

Sorry to break it to you but this is definitely not 1959P-DDO-001. Go to the link I have provided below and look at the date.

Note the doubling on the date. Your coin looks like Machine Doubling. Sorry

well thats an easy one, that one at ms-65 is only worth 15 dollars, and potters is the one I have, and its worth 95 dollars at ms-65, the one you used is a late stage die, and potters is a early stages of the DDO

The coin you posted is not a Doubled Die. It is not worth much more than $.01

The link I posted is for a EDS (early die stage)

xxxxxx,

I think we are somewhat unsure of what you are telling us. The coin pic that you originally posted is not a valuable "hub-doubled" 1959P-1do-001, but is instead a easily identified example of commonly found " Machine Doubling" which makes its value a little over face value, sorry. We would all be very happy for you if it was worth $95 but sadly,as many experts here at CCF have said, it is not.

However you state that:

Quote:
and he [Mr. Potter] has the coin as we speak

which makes it sound like Mr. Potter has your coin and has told you that it is a DDO worth $95. I think that's why were are confused.

xxxxxx, you have posted some very nice coins (my favorite is the clipped planchet), this is just not one of them... we all wish it was. Keep hunting there are Gems to be found and I wish you great success.

Sudz did an amazing job (thank you). I'll try-

xxxxxx: The coin you posted photos of, the one in your very first post, is not a doubled die of any kind. We are trying to determine if that (coin pictured) is the one you're suggesting is a doubled die. Could you clear that up?

This is a scarce variety in MS65! I have slabbed 2 of the 7 examples at PCGS in MS65 Red. The most recent was February of last year, it brought $575 in a Teletrade auction, I was pleased. I've certified more than a dozen others of this variety, but all except the two mentioned fell short of the Gem category. It's a much tougher coin to get a -65 RD grade on than the other well known die for this year (FS-104, CONECA DDO #4).

The coin in the first post was attributed by Mr.Potter as a doubled die and you have sent it to Numismatic News?
Why?
