Does anybody know where to find coin masses on the web; particularly British predecimal coinage - I keep having trouble with this.

No, "mass" as in the scientific term for the more common word "weight".

I don't know of a website that lists in detail all coins but I'm sure someone will come along that has a link.

I'd recommend getting a book with the info. That way it's always in front of you for quick reference and you have a Lot more information then just mass.

Tony Clayton's website (the second of SuperDave's links) has a good compilation of British denominations with weights to the nearest 0.1 gram. If you want more accurate weights for these, or weights for other world coins, I'm not sure where to look. The Krause catalogues and their NumisMaster website have weights for precious metal coins but not base metal ones, except where there are catalogued varieties where the weight is a key difference.

I believe I got that link from you, Sap. Methinks we should get you a custom title along the lines of "Official CCF Reference Source."

^Superdave; first one's just an advert, second one is good but I found it first :P
Quite a useful site; but I need world coins too - I find going out and buying another book right now to be excessive and to smack of consumer-victmhood.

Thanks also Sap; I only really want web pages because I'm too poor to buy another electronic scales after the last ones I bought off ebay broke whilst changing the batteries.

The first page, although a dealer site, has a deceptive amount of information available regarding all sorts of world coins in the included links. Click through some of them when you have time to browse.
