Hi everybody. I know this isn't a genuine Buffalo nickel, but I can't find any information on when it was minted, or it's value(Yes I know it's a nickel lol). If anyone knows anything, please let me know! Thanks, Fred Image: txnickel-front.jpg81.45 KB Image: txnickel-back.jpg83.85 KB

I would venture to say that it is an oversize (2 troy ounces) silver round (.999 silver) and as such would be valued at least as much the price of silver that it contained. This varies as the market adjusts and so it's not a satable price. Refer to "spot prices" in the L.H. Navigation square on this page. Very nice rouond, and I know someone who would give an arm or leg to get his hands on this one. Just found this information: The Texas Mint & Mercantile.....sells silver rounds of all kinds and at prices which vary from $19.95 to $29.95 + shipping. They have a outlet on ebay that sells their products. Here is the site: http://www.texasmint.net/

I would guess it's a silver round. They are ussually 1 oz, but your's is 2, therefore the "texas nickel" since everythings bigger in Texas as for when and by whom it was minted, it may not be easy to find out, I have tried to find out about my wheatback silver rounds, and the dealers can't say, too many companies put such things out. I do think it is a neat round

Alright folks! I am the guy that Old Dan was talking about and this is a "stick up"! (Internet style and the best I can do on short notice) Now don't anybody move except FredNino who can move very slowly to pick up a bubble mailer to place that hunk of silver in. Wrap it real good and seal it inside. Old Dan I said NOT to move! I have a fly swatter and I know how to use it!!! Now FredNino apply some postage to that mailer and apply the correct address (MINE) before mailing as there is a herd up here in Indiana that will take real good care of that buffalo after the pony express delivers it. Now wasn't that easy? No one got hurt and Old Dan and all the Knightesses, he happened to have with him, will live to return to his castle in the mountains! And another silver buffalo will live its life out on the plains of Indiana!

I appreciate that. I have a fairly large foreign and domestic collection. Nothing crazy, but some nice pieces. I have enjoyed what I've read here so far. And thanks for the link. I sent an email to the Texas Mint, and we'll see if they respond. If they do, I'll give an update.
Thanks again!
