Hi all,

Over the years, I have picked up lots of 5 cent coins, and I've been going through them of late, bagging them up and taking them to the bank. I've noticed that normally, the fields inside the echidna are relatively clean, but on these examples, there appears to the something going on. The first one I dismissed as PMD, until I found a couple more with the same variation. I was wondering if this is normal?

I believe it's commonly known as DPL (die polish lines).
Fairly commonly seen, but the ones you've shown are pretty extreme examples, so a nice find.

Thanks, Nancy, these have been sitting in a terra-cotta pot for the good part of 15 years, now will be liberated into 2x2's!
