Hey all, just found this while CRH, looks like a pretty solid DDO... Can anyone tell me if I'm wrong and what kind of value it would have? Album: imgur.com/a/sN4HW

Hey, shaman, we would love to see your coin but, unfortunately the link isn't working (at least not for me). Could you check on it? Looking forward to being able to see your find.

What you have is a cent struck with die wear. All the outside devices that face the rim is wearing in that direction. They used the dies way to long in the 1950's so see see a lot of wear stuff during that decade. But you coin is not as bad as it does get. When they strike out a couple hundred thousand more the die outside starts to loose their shape. You've heard of the so called "poor man's doubled die"? These are in the VLDS die life. here is an example of how bad they do get: The heavy die flow. The snow drifting of the devices so that they fields and devices flow together. Die cracks, weak wheat lines. This coin is a BU coin, not a circulated example. I got a tube of 1955 BU cents at a show. 19 of the 50 were the VLDS PMDDs. They sell these on ebay for a lot of money when they are not worth what they are asking for them.

Much better pics, thanks! Unfortunately, I can't really tell you for sure what you have, as it is getting late on the East Coast and my eyes are so tired that every coin is looking like a doubled die! You'd best wait for an expert or two to chime in...

I've gotten quite a few PMDD's in the past, but are you sure this is one? I've seen a ton like the one you showed in the first picture, such as this: But I've never seen one like this: (I highlighted all the spots that are doubled)

^I know that's the very expensive very obvious doubled die, but there weren't other varieties other than that and the PMDD?

Quote: Cleaned 1955 DDO Wow, awesome coin, albert... but your photo is out of focus. You were probably shaking the camera when you snapped the picture.
