this 1971-d Ike dollar looks to be a silver or 40% silver one..
i have to find my scale to weigh it against the other silver ones I have.but if it is silver its a cool error find..im guessing I should have this one graded to show its a real one if the weights match.what do you think?thanks and if its not real silver would acetone remove the the stuff off the coin?

It may be plated. The 40% silver Eisenhower dollars are clad and typically show the 21%-silver/79%-copper core on the edge.

What is the weight?

It looks plated to me.
However... What if they had one of those '64 Peace dollar planchets left over and after 7 years at the mint someone found it and chucked it into the bin, creating a 90% ike!
Oh how cool would THAT be!?!

The weight will tell all. Almost :)
22.7 grams on the CN
24.6 grams on the 40% silver clad.
A note on the 40% ikes. The edges looked more uniform/solid
silver than the 40% Kennedy half dollars so they look like 90%
silver more than 40%.
Will wait until the correct weight is determined before
any more theories :)
There are some possible scenarios if this coin does weigh
24.6 (give or take a couple of .01's)
If 25.5 grams or more then a whole new story

Plated IKES are usually UNIFORM in luster...even "chrome-like" consistency, with no variations, for the most part..your pic indicates original mint luster, IMHO...I hope your weight is on the higher end!
