Howdy,
I'd posted a story some time back about a 1932-D quarter I had purchased that turned out to be an alteration with an added D mintmark. A year after I bought it the dealer exchanged it for another coin he believed to be genuine. I finally submitted the replacement coin to ICG for grading. Anyone care to offer opinions on grade and/or authenticity?

Because you said the D was a fake on the last one that draws my attention to this one as well. It looks rather odd as if it had too much pressure to apply it. I am away from my coin stash so I don't have any comparisons at the moment.

I pulled out my 32-D in my quarter set, granted mine is in a tad better condition than the one you are showing in the photographs (probably a VG+ to low F)...the D on mine looks IDENTICAL to yours...flattened with a very slight indentation on the left side. I always thought it looked a little weird, especially when comparing it to my 32-S/S. Since yours appears to be in a holder, please tell me it's authentic! I purchased mine in FL. As far as grade...I'd say G-4.

I would grade this coin VG8. I don't see anything that makes me feel that this is not a genuine 1932D.

Fortunately, this one turned out to be OK in ICG's opinion. They also may have given it a "key date bump" since I would have pegged it as VG8 or maybe VG10. Nelrak, if your coin has the same style and appearance for the mintmark then maybe it's also OK. I know I feel much better now that my coin has been authenticated.

Very nice. Congrats!!!! That's a pretty good profit margin on a face value of 25 cents.

I could see why they gave it a Fine grade. Good job!

Awesome to hear Jaobler! You had me sweating for a day or two! Congratz on your grade too, I guess I am a tad harder on coins when I grade. :)
