Are the 2x2 coin holders at Hobby Lobby good quality?

I have bought them in a pinch when I needed some immediately. They seemed good. A little better quality control than SOME of the bulk ones you could buy. A little bit pricey at Hobby Lobby though in my opinion. Thats why I only buy them when I have to there.

Thanks. They do have coupons you can print out for 40% off all the time for a single item. It helps. :)

Hehe, I use those every time and still think they are high priced :) Your right though, that does help a lot!

I bought several sizes of cardboard flips in a multi pack at Hobby Lobby once and found that the fold was not centered. I had about an 1/8" overhang on the edge of the cent holders. I also found that they were not pressed deep enough at the fold line and some wouldn't follow the fold, but start off across the face of the holder. I was using these for error coins, so why not error holders. I just order them from Amazon now. I don't have to drive across town and waste time and gas. And I can usually find other things I need so I get free shipping. Ben

Overpriced and usually of suspect quality I've found, not consistent in folds and many have a lot of wrinkles in the mylar. They are okay in a pinch though when you can't find anything else nearby.

I have used cheaper 2x2's before and I have also seen the wrinkling of the mylar and many have white dust all over from the cardboard. I ended up spending my entire BU Statehood Quarters set that I had stored in these holders because they all ended of with a hideous yellowish tone. I am very particular when it comes to toning. Some like it, I consider it damaged.

I also don't care for toning. What is a good unit price for a 2x2?

If you can find 2x2 flips (staple variety) for ~4 cents each, you're hitting the average price. My LCS sells 100 for $3.95 + tax (4.2 cents each) but you have to buy 100 of the same size. I found a great seller on ebay (haworth57) that sells various quantities at good prices, and they're actually better quality than the ones I've purchased locally. I usually end up getting his 300-pack for $13.25 (4.4 cents each), but he also sells 100 for $5.74 (5.7 cents each), 500 for $17.79 (3.6 cents each), or 1000 for $30.99 (3.1 cents each). The best part: he'll mix and match sizes for you in any quantity you'd like, you just have to shoot him an email as soon as you make the purchase. He ships VERY fast and is great to work with. I purchased my last bundle on Sep 9 and it was delivered (from California to Iowa) on Sep 12. Can't complain about that, and with free shipping to boot! I'm not affiliated with him in any way, just want to share a very positive experience with a great seller: http://www.ebay.com/sch/haworth57/m..._ipg=&_from=

My local coin shop is higher at over .05 and he is also one of the poorer places to both buy or sell coins or bullion, but he is the only coin shop for 63 miles.

Just back from Hobby Lobby. I decided the 2x2's there cost too much....$3.99 for a package of 30! I swore 50 came in a pack but I guess not. I will check out that ebay link.

My LCS is a bit high priced - but it beats having to wait for several days for them to com in the mail, if I need them now! 50-60 pk/ bundles for $3.00 The LCS is walking distance from work, unfortunately all I've ever purchased there is supplies, the coins they have I want or need are priced way over their value, the lady working there is nice, and we have had some pleasant talks, but they never have anything I would consider buying at the prices they ask. example common low end grade mint state Morgans at $85-95/each? Seriously, I think they don't want to sell their inventory, a 1955 DDO LHC in a NGC holder graded at VF25 for $2100? crazy, that coin is only $1200-1300 all day long on ebay.
