Hello,

I was wondering if PCGS has a census just like NCG where you can see how much coins were graded of a specific grade.

http://www.ngccoin.com/poplookup/Wo...?countryid=6 that's the link for NGC, but you have to be a member to be able to use that feature.

Does PCGS have a similar one ? I was unable to find.

Thank you.

PCGS does have one, they call theirs the population report. I believe you have to be a member but there is a way around it. If you find a specific coin or an example of one you want you can look up the cert number in the cert verification and it will show the population for that coin in that grade. Just find one for whatever grade(s) or coin(s) and you can get the same info. Its more labor intensive then being a member and seeing it all at once, but its better than nothing

Just remember, the population is the population of certified coins, so it's going to under report the survival rate of well circulated coins. For example, there are 4047 FE 1857s certified @ PCGS. 2700 or so in MS and another almost 900 in AU. There is only 1 graded Fair-2. That's not saying it's rare in Fair-2, just that only one person thought it was worth $15 to find out it was only Fair-2.

....and it's also going to over-report some populations of coins due to people cracking out and resubmitting them in the hopes of a better grade.
