I got a couple of these in my change. Looking at the obverse, Washington looks flat with less detail as compared to a Statehood Quarter. Looks like they took ultra low relief to the extreme!

I think they'd have more character having a higher relief than what they have. Once these get circulated the whole obverse will have all the detail worn off! Do the proofs exhibit this low relief as well? I've not seen one in person to comment on that.

The "less detail" is a return to the original 1932 John Flanagan design (without the "curly hair" of the State Quarters obverse), but yes the relief on ATB Quarters is much lower than that of 1932 Quarters.

Hi,

Do comparison, side-by-side photos exist for easier clarification and identification of the issue?

This. The "spaghetti hair" you were used to seeing masked the low relief. Now that the original design has been restored, the low relief is more obvious.
