Hi all,
I've just joined PCGS, and have received their pack in the mail. I'm looking for a clarification: When we submit coins to PCGS, do we have to do so in the hard mylar plastics that came in the pack? If so, do they continue to provide these mylar holders, or do we have to buy them ourselves?

You purchase them as well as the white labels.

I never got any mylars in my pack.

It was my belief up until now that you had to provide your own flips for inbound coins.

I'm an Australian, and we don't have any mylar flips like that here. Are they fussy what sort of flips we use, or does it have to be their hard ones? What flips were you using, SuperDave?

They prefer mylar flips b/c their "inert" properties will protect the coin from environmental damage. They will accept any plastic flip (I have seen bulk coins received in Zip-Loc bags). However, they will refuse, return, and charge a $7 handling fee for any coins submitted in cardboard flips (or plastic) with staples.
Most authorized PCGS dealers should be able help you with the process, but they may be put off by not using them as a middle man.
Below is taken verbatim from a PCGS submission form.

2. Place each coin in a new 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" plastic flip with submission form and line number listed. Do not send coins with staples.
